Sunny Cyprus is an ideal place for vacation and life. This island is like a magnet for tourists from all over the world, because it has everything you need for an exciting pastime: magnificent beaches, beautiful natural landscapes, a lot of cultural and historical attractions.

One of the main advantages of Cyprus is its comfortable climate at any time of the year. This fact is more true for the northern part of the island, where there are almost no cold winters, and the change of seasons is smooth and almost imperceptible. When planning a trip, learn more about the local climate features and choose the most comfortable period for the trip.

Climate of Northern Cyprus

The climate of Northern Cyprus is formed by the geographical location of the island. It can be described as typically Mediterranean, with relatively cool winters and dry hot summers. Unlike our country, there are only two distinct seasons: a hot summer from May to September and a short winter period. The island does not have the usual off-season with slush and rain, but there is plenty of sun – almost 340 days a year.

Seasons smoothly change one another. In summer there is almost no rain, and tourists can enjoy cloudless skies almost every day. Daily temperature fluctuations can be observed only on the coast; in the central part of the island they are not so noticeable. Snow is considered an unusual phenomenon for the island: it can be seen only on the northern slopes of the Troodos Mountains. By the way, it is this high mountain range, as well as the Kyrenia Mountains, that protect the central part of the island from the influence of cyclones and atmospheric phenomena. Thanks to them, there are almost no strong winds, fogs or sudden temperature changes.

Weather in Northern Cyprus

The best time for a vacation is the end of spring and the beginning of summer. Already in May, the air in Northern Cyprus warms up to 28-29 °C. In June, it becomes a few degrees warmer, and the maximum heat peak occurs in July and August. By mid-summer, the thermometer rises to 34-35 °C in the coastal area. But even during this period, there is no exhausting heat on the island: a constant sea breeze softens the heat, and in the evenings there is a pleasant coolness.

With the onset of autumn, temperatures drop to 27-30 °C. There is still a lot of sun. The water warms up to a comfortable 22-24 °C, but in the evenings the approach of the cold season is clearly felt.

The average winter temperature is 16-19 °C. During this period, the air becomes humid, and the entire island is literally drowning in greenery. By the way, Northern Cyprus is one of the few places where you can see blooming orchids in January, and admire the dense bouquets of almonds in February. And after the winter coolness, spring comes again with heavy rains and gentle warm sun.n et.
